So this month on PS4, this was one of the games they released as their exclusive free downloads. So I took it upon myself to download one of the main games of my childhood and I decided to give it a go.
For those who don't know, Abe has been around a lot longer than you think...
The first Abe game came out in 1997 on the PS1 and took the puzzle game genre by storm. Their challenging levels and brain busting puzzles sparked the attention of gamers all over. The main character, Abe, caught the hearts of many people with his charming ignorance and adorable personality and heroism.
So the story is about Abe who is working as the employee of the month in Rupture Farm, which is a meat processing factory, and Abe's bad ass boss, Molluck the Glukkon, is in a tight spot when the two species that they were using for meat began to run low. But Molluck has a plan. To Abe's horror, Molluck's plan is to start packaging and processing the Mudokons (Abe's species).
So it is then up to you as a gamer to guide Abe through harsh challenges and creative puzzles to save all the 299 Mudokons and foil Molluck's plan!
So now you are up to date. Here is what I wanted to talk about...
They remade the entire game and have made it available for Xbox One and PS4!
There is so much I can say about this game, the story is really good, gameplay is unique for a platform game and it has proven itself to have come such a long way from 1997 to 2014-2015.
The gameplay is guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat with every roll, jump, run and duck you do. The best way I can describe this game is when you are sitting there and all of a sudden you go "Quickly! Run! Run! Ahhh!" followed by the sigh of relief you give when you reach a safe place.
I would rate this game a 7/10 due to some of the graphics not always being up to scratch however, the progress they have made from the 1997 format to the 2015 format is staggeringly amazing!
Here is an example:
1997 Abe
2014 Abe
I know! Like I said, the changes are staggering and this is living proof that any game from the past as the opportunity to make a massive comeback on the newest of consoles. They went from 2D to 3D and still had time to make the game look impressive!
Right, that's all I wanted to say, I hope you enjoyed and consider giving this game a go and if you have played the older one than take a trip down memory lane and relive the beauty and fun game that is Abe's Odyssey: New 'n' Tasty :)
