So if you haven't seen the trailer for Until Dawn here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdWelbl9B9w
So I watched the first play through demo of Until Dawn and within 7 minutes, I was absolutely terrified. My heart rate was through the roof but I was also wanting to see more.
So in the game you have the opportunity to play as 8 characters who are trapped on a secluded mountain retreat with a psychotic murderer who is out for their blood.
The gameplay consists of exploring and point and click. For example, say if the killer has backed your character into a corner and it is time for you to run. It will give you the option to either throw a vase at the killer or just run. This can either be good for your character or life threatening. It is like watching a horror movie and instead of you yelling at the screen telling the protagonist to hide or run, instead you control where they go, you decide where they hide and you are in charge of who lives and who dies...
This is the murderer who is chasing you throughout the house and other areas. When you hear his voice, despite using a voice changer, you get a chill down your spine. Though he looks like a brut, when he talks, he is actually calm and collected, which makes him 10x more terrifying.
In the moments when you aren't running for your life, you can find some clues as to why you are being chased and who by. You can find clues that link possible other victims and if one of the characters are missing then you might find clues as to where they might be.
This game feels like an L.A. Noire cross The Evil Within horror game. The graphics are also extremely life like which, again, makes the atmosphere and general look of the game feel a lot more like a movie and it brings in a whole new way of looking at horror games.
I expect a lot from this game and I can't wait to see more of it. This shows a lot of promise to be an amazing experience.
Hope you enjoyed and I really recommend that you play this game if you get the chance when the full game comes out.
Happy Gaming!
